Russell Yauney – Family Law Attorney

Russell Yauney

Russell was raised in Sandy, Utah, where he met his wife in high school, although it took him many years to convince her to marry him.
He Joined the Army Reserves at 17. He participated in the ROTC in college, commissioned, and was deployed to Iraq from 2005-2006. He retired at the rank of Major.
Russell took a break from his military obligations and served a religious mission to Dallas, Texas, for two years.
Russell graduated with his B.S. in philosophy from the University of Utah, where he also minored in business and military science. However, when the philosophy factory shut down, he decided to go to law school.
Russell attended law school at Gonzaga for the first year, then transferred to and graduated from the S.J. Quinney School of Law at the University of Utah. During law school he received the CALI award for legal research and writing and was the student director of the Family Law Clinic for two years.
Russell opened his own practice immediately after being admitted as an attorney. He has practiced family law his entire legal career. He has been awarded the pro bono attorney of the year twice. Eventually, he wanted to slow down a little bit and spend more time with his family, and so after 13 years of running his own practice he joined Brown Family Law.
For hobbies, Russell thoroughly enjoys reading epic fantasy. He probably plays too many computer games and would give just about anything to have his wife’s exclusive attention. He loves his kids, except when they argue with him like they are attorneys.

Clay and Whitney and the wholesome respect I received during my entire interaction was amazing. They gave me valuable advice/feedback and a joy to work with. Highly recommend #10Stars
I’m very glad I chose Brown Family Law to handle my divorce. From start to finish, the process went smoothly. Divorce can be incredibly stressful, but much of that stress was eased thanks to their professionalism and guidance. Special thanks to Nicholas Schwarz and Carren Leavitt—both are outstanding attorneys who clearly know exactly what they’re doing. I couldn’t have asked for better representation. Thank you!
Nick and Carren had amazing communication throughout this entire experience and answered all questions and concerns quickly! Would definitely recommend them. I had a wonderful experience with them.
Communication is a big thing for Brown Family Law and it showed. They were very helpful in answering any questions I had, and helping make all the complexities of law understandable.
